The customary language of work in a field constrains the worker’s perceptions. For improved perceptions, improve the language. From Jenny Firth-Cozens and Michael A. West we have this:
Language is all we have to think with and to plan, and the words we use can limit or enable a different future. Changing the language of work must therefore help to change perceptions for both men and women.
