I think it’s because they are so unique in the way they show affection, and because you have to work for it. Once you get it, man, they just curl up with you. But they retain their independence. If a cat falls in love with you, you know you have passed a sterner test.

My rescue cat adopted me when he kept following me around in the animal shelter. We make a great team. He greets me at the door when I return from an errand,loves to curl up in my lap when we're watching Netflix movies. He meows and jumps up and down on the bed when it's time to get up in the morning.
