What M. C. Escher says below about the psychological ups and downs of working creatively applies universally, from the projects of artists to those of entrepreneurs.
At times, when I feel very enthusiastic, it seems as though no one in the world has ever made anything so beautiful and important. Shortly afterwards — a matter of hours — it suddenly looks useless and I am overcome by the utter pointlessness of all that pitiable fiddling. But having taken it on, I continue the next day as though my very life depended on it. I can even get truly terrified by the possibility of dying before this latest, so-called masterpiece is finished.
